mustachioedmoose asked: I have to admit, I do have mixed feelings about porn. But to condemn ALL of it like that is just ignorant. It BECOMES sex education, because in a lot of the U.S., at least, it's still taboo to talk about sex; coupled with the fact that parents are more likely to leave it to the schools to educate their kids about it, it's true that a lot of people learn about what sex is "supposed" to be like through watching porn. But a lot of porn is beautiful, especially the amateur stuff, which tends to be made by real couples, not big porn companies. There's something for everyone out there, anyway.
For sure. I also find it problematic to assume what someone else is doing is not consensual or that it is not enjoyable to them. Why can’t we actually listen to what those involved in porn have to say? There was nothing in that quote about how porn actresses (or actors even, or pornstars who do not fit into the fucking binary that seems to exist in every anti-porn discussion) feel, about how they chose their line of work or how they interpret the videos and their actions. To me a person who is unapologetically across-the-board against porn is sexist and slut-shaming as all get out.
